GROW IN THE GOSPEL
Morrison Zion Lutheran hosts many different Bible studies throughout the week. These varied gatherings are held on mornings and evenings, weekdays and weekends, for both youth and adults and much more – all in an effort to meet the spiritual needs of its members and to praise God. Morrison Zion’s Bible classes at this time include:
SUNDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY (9:15 a.m. in the Church Basement):
This study is the Adult Christ Light. We will look at lessons from the Old Testament this year. Join us at 9:15 a.m. in the church basement and bring the family! These studies are a great way to review basic Bible history lessons and apply them to your daily life. Come and learn from one another!
SUNDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY (9:15 a.m. in the School Commons):
We meet each Sunday at 9:15 a.m. in the commons.
On Oct. 1 we will finish the study, A Return To Grace. The last lesson in this video-based study about the Reformation is titled: Grace Confessed and Enduring. This study of how God used Luther to lead his people back to grace will use clips from the new Luther movie of the same name. Marcus Bay Park Cinema is hosting a showing on Oct. 23 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available for $10 online now (marcustheatres.com/movies/a-return-to-grace-luthers-life).
On Sunday, Oct. 8, we will begin a study from the God’s People series on Elijah. One of the Bible’s best-known prophets, Elijah stood up to the godless King Ahab and wicked Queen Jezebel, challenged false prophets of Baal to a prayer duel, and brought life back into a young boy’s corpse. Yet Elijah still had his doubts. Find out how the still, small voice of the gospel propped him up through his many challenges. The book, Elijah, from the book series God’s People is available for $5. Even if you can’t join us for the study and discussion, pick up a copy of the book at church. We have 20 copies. Please pay Pastor Ott.
Bible Study does not meet during the summer months.)
SUNDAY EVENING BOOK STUDY (7 p.m. in the Church Basement):
We are discussing the book, The Prodigal God by Timothy Keller. How well do you know the Parable of the Lost Son? After reading this book, you will more fully understand the parable. After reading this book, you will understand more about yourself. After reading this book, you will understand more about the one true God. Even if you can’t join us for the study, pick up a copy of the book. A sign up sheet is in the basement. The books are in the sacristy in the front of church. The cost is $5 a book. Please pay Pastor Ott.
YOUTH GROUP BIBLE STUDY (Sundays at 7 p.m. in the School Commons):
These studies pertain to issues which concern today’s teens from a Christian point of view. All teens from 9th grade through 12th grade are invited to attend. We usually have “Open Gym” following the Bible study for those who would like to enjoy some extra fellowship with kids their age. Join us and bring a friend!
BIBLE HISTORY & CONFIRMATION CLASSES:
Confirmation Class for those in grades 5-8 who do not attend our school will meet from 5:00-6:15 p.m. each Wednesday. We meet in the school basement.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT MEN’S BIBLE STUDY (and optional basketball):
Men, join us Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. (Mondays during Lent) for an opportunity to grow in God’s Word together and study it in light of our specific roles as brothers in Christ. There will be an open gym afterwards for those interested in playing basketball. Even if you don’t want to play basketball, come to the Bible study and stick around to play cards or just hang out and get to know other guys in the congregation. We hope to see you all there!
THURSDAY NIGHT WOMEN’S HOME BIBLE STUDY:
The Women’s Bible Study is held every Thursday evening at 8:00 pm. The Bible study is hosted by women who attend the Bible study, providing a comfortable setting in which to study God’s Word and have candid discussion. If you would like to attend this study, there is no obligation to host! Women of all age groups are welcome to come. If you have any questions, feel free to call or text Jen Pingel 920-632-3622. Bring your Bible and a friend, and join us!
This is the name of a Bible Information class that covers the basic doctrines that we teach and believe. If you are already a member, it is a great review of confirmation class. It uses the same format that grades 5-8 use in Confirmation Class. If you are not a member, this class introduces you to what we believe. After completing the course, you are welcome to join the congregation if you also believe what we teach. If you are interested this class, please talk to Pastor Ott.
If you have a child between the ages of 3 and 5, feel free to send them. At 9:15 a.m. each Sunday, we will meet for about 25 minutes in the Bible Classroom in the church basement. We will read a short story from the Bible, sing songs of praise, and do an art activity. Each of the children will have their own folder, which they should try to bring each week. The children will also be singing in church a few Sundays. Please watch your child’s folder and the church bulletin for those dates. Coming to Sunday School each week is an excellent opportunity to learn about the Savior, but we also encourage each family to sit down and review the stories with their child and do the coloring sheets and activities that are sent home with them each week. If you want to sit in with your child to see what they are learning, please feel free. We thank God for allowing us this opportunity to share his Word with the young believers of our congregation. (We do not meet during the summer months.)
CHRISTMAS FOR KIDS/EASTER FOR KIDS:
These Vacation Bible School style events are for children ages 3 through those in the 4th grade. We learn the Christmas story at Christmas for Kids and the story of Easter at Easter for Kids. We sing songs, make crafts, and enjoy lunch together. Invite a friend or neighbor to join us! This is a free program and open to children age 3 through 4th grade.
