Morrison Zion Lutheran School’s athletic programs primarily run in conjunction with the Lakeshore Lutheran League. The Lakeshore Lutheran exists to promote unity of purpose in the interscholastic athletics of our schools. We want to provide the opportunity to develop moral, spiritual, physical, social and mental characteristics of our athletes. We hope to provide an opportunity for teaching teamwork and cooperation. We wish also to provide opportunity for Christian sportsmanship and friendship.
Morrison’s athletic offerings generally involve football, volleyball, basketball, softball and track.

In 1969 a baseball league was formed to compete with other area Lutheran schools. Soon after, the “Knights” began participating in cheerleading (1970), track (1974), and basketball (1975). Recreational soccer and football teams were also formed in the 1970s. Decades later in 2007, a girls’ volleyball squad was also added to the fold. In these athletic endeavors, the Knights have earned numerous championships in the leagues they’ve participated in, filling multiple trophy cases. The real and only truly important rewards, though, have been the invaluable fellowship with each other and with other Lutheran schools during these contest; the gatherings of church families to support their children, the timeless lessons of sportsmanship, teamwork, humility, hard work, and perseverence; and the love and Christian friendships these games have produced. Many congregation members have also volunteered their time and talents to coaching and nurturing these young athletes, and the Morrison Athletic Association, as well as many dedicated school athletic directors, who have helped ensure these talents continue to glorify God above all things.
